Report from DEVCON

Directions to the meeting place

Join us on May 11th for the next general meeting of NEMUG. In addition to a report from Intersystems' DEVCON, Board Member elections will take place.

This year DEVCON 2004 took place in Orlando Florida from March 28 - 31, 2004. InterSystems' Developers Conference is a gathering place for IT professionals who use Caché data management and application development software. This year Intersystems introduced an exciting new product -- Ensemble: a comprehensive application integration platform.

The presentation of the Caché Innovator Awards is always a featured event. The top prize which went to an application that unified patient records using all aspects of Caché and interfacing with various devices including PDAs. Second prize went to an end to end meta-data business application management system using all aspects of Caché. Finally third prize went to a library management system for the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels including a virtual tour.

The concurrent sessions at DEVCON 2004 reflected the fact that InterSystems now boasts two showcase products. In addition to running sessions about various Caché features, they organized an "Ensemble track". Plus, many of the concurrent sessions discussed core technologies that are common to both products.
